6th May 2017. Four years since the biggest injustice to ever hit Hartlepool United.
These last four years have in part felt like a miscarriage of justice. Serving our time at the FA’s leisure in HMP National League. And with Covid, visitation rights to the Vic have been seriously curtailed.
Relegation out of the football league, not because we were crap, but because our soul had been torn out.
Coxhall and his cronies not only ripped our eyes out but shit in the sockets.
Never mentioned, but I figure Notts County (who can forget Peter Hartley and James Poole scoring against them eight years ago) went soft on Newport who scored seconds before the final whistle. It was them or us to go down. Notts County (spit) were mid table and had nothing to play for. Seriously wish we were playing them in the final.
But we aren’t, it’s Torquay. Unbeaten in thirteen in the league but only three wins in the last eight going into the playoffs. Those five draws you can add to their draw against Notts County (spit) in the playoffs semi final. The result dependent on extra time.
Those results over the last eight in the season put Torquay mid table in the form guide.
They finished third in the goal scoring table but take away the five they put past us then it looks more promising.
This promotion game isn’t all about putting wrongs right. It’s also about status for our club. It’s about increased funding from the EFL. It’s about attracting better players, more fans, bigger sponsorship.
But above everything else it’s about giving Raj the success he truly deserves and DC the chance to ply his trade amongst the big boys.
Let’s hope the lads do us proud.
I’ve mentioned this before
Earlier this season pools form.
LLWL
Then went on to win the next four.
4-0, 3-1, 1-0, 3-1.
Current form
LLWL
Won the following three
4-0, 3-2, 1-0, and next up Torquay
Hence my prediction league forecast of 3-1 to Pools for that fourth match.
